Operation Real Freedom By: Noah Eaton 3/21/03 How humane are you? How humane am I? I don’t believe I’m any more humane than you We all should be equally humane in my mind Where do the ducks go in the winter? Where on the bookshelves is Catcher in the Rye? Who knows how the caged bird sings When the pussy-cat is allowed feast tonight Democracy is left as an old newspaper at the blind man’s doorstep Exercise choice, free will, yet you can’t get in shape So many go running with the bulls, just can’t stand a chance Arrest those who speak the truth from sea to shining sea in brigades What’s the point of feeling free? When you can never see the F-117A’s And any minute the B-52 Stratofortresses Can bullet your blue sky, and take the colors away? Yet, they call it freedom But I feel like a stranger They call it freedom But I’ve never felt so much danger They call it safety But I'm petrified like hollow bone They call it safety But I feel senseless like a stone Uh huh, right, exemption from the arbitrary use of authority Civil liberty, freedom of assembly You hold these truths to be self-evident What unalienable rights do you pursue, my liege? I think I saw the long train of abuses and usurpations Heading up to the Union Station But why all the stops and skepticism What the heck ever happened to despotism? Has this “candid” world overlooked the Facts? Assent of Laws abridged, representative houses bulldozed These Oppressions We Have Petitioned for Redress are unread While the Administration of Justice has a clock twenty minutes slow It used to be the war on terror, where did it go? What the heck are they doing in there behind the White House walls? Citizen rules are subject to apply Before you know it, there goes the deadline… Yet, they call it freedom But I feel like a stranger They call it freedom But I’ve never felt so much danger They call it safety But I'm petrified like hollow bone They call it safety But I feel senseless like a stone Patience is a virtue, that’s a valid point I beseech As is the Christian doctrine to forgive and to turn the other cheek So why is it you’re killing so many of our brothers all a sudden? Where’s the Firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence Natalie Maines has the right to freedom of speech Yet you vandalize a living voice and hundreds of Dixie Chicks CDs Where were you when we mutually pledged to each other our Lives? Fortunes, and our Sacred Honor while you lost your keys? So let go of my aunt’s purse and my uncle’s wallet End this hatred, oppression, reincarnate the Declaration of Independence Bush, will you please just get out of the wilderness Your impatience alone tests all of our patience Free Boo Radley’s tree from the chain-link fences Peace to America, Islam, and the world we must seek Now get back to that overdue proposal For the good of our school boards, recreation, and hospitals Yet, they call it freedom But I feel like a stranger They call it freedom But I’ve never felt so much danger They call it safety But I'm petrified like hollow bone They call it safety But I feel senseless like a stone Like a Joshua tree I stand condescendingly Waiting for the disciples To commiserate and speak... TURN BACK BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!!! "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." Shakira [This message has been edited by Mistletoe Angel (03-21-2003 04:21 PM).] |

I have music to your verse. I need not be drunk to wash the streets with this song. Sing it on the streets and I will stand next to you and my children will be there plucking the strings of penance they were born into. Thanks Noah. machiner |

Noah, this is incredible...you've eloquently expressed the feelings of so many of us....myself included. Killing each other will never solve anything. Truly excellent poetry, my friend, let it be known that I stand with you. *Krista Knutson* |

Noah - thanks for writing such a powerful poem - I wonder if 70% really do support the war or could we add a verse to your poem on manipulating public opinion - well done - Paul |

Yet, they call it freedom But I feel like a stranger They call it freedom But I’ve never felt so much danger They call it safety But I'm petrified like hollow bone You have captured the fear and so many of your sentiments in this moving piece, which is so eloquently expressed May the fears and the fires come to a swift end Liz |

Noah, I agree with what Elizabeth just said, but, I will never believe everyone is my brother. Though I would like him to live in whatever peace he chooses. I'd have been much happier had Iraq citazens would have solved their own problems. Turn the other check? Wonder if the survivors or family of the victims of the towers would agree. Wonder why any country would produce so much biological weapons...just for defense???? Not! Whether we like it or not, America is very hated, by many countries, and has been for a very long time, and I do hope we can stop that hatred now, to quote you: "before it's too late". God's will be done. Love ya, Noah, for your kind loving heart for all of mankind. That we could be that free...would be the true miracle.... Hugs, Pat ..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.. |
