Glaring Back at Me

You know what he did,
that dandelion,
smiling big as he pleased,
he bought a spot in my flower bed,
then looked at me
and shouted “Cheese!”

That naughty little dandelion,
he’ll ruin the neighborhood,
surely y’all know
that he’s up to no good!

We let one in, we turn our back,
we give him a deaf ear,
while he summons all his relatives,
and everyone that’s dear.

We must attack with herbicide,
and fertilize our lawns,
not giving nary inch
his seeds a timely spawn.

With tulip bulbs and lilies,
with iris by the score,
we’ll eradicate the trickster
that he will be no more.

Oh, yes, he has a lovely face,
but when one is not looking
he sprouts a fluffy kind of lace
in the seeds that he is cooking.

So, take my word, it has great worth
from now unto eternity,
the dandelion has it in
for gard’ners like you and me.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Well now, you've been tempted by Spring,
and all its' earthly dirt, to call forth
the dandelion and its dastardly plans...

too cute, Virginia...thank you!

Oh, yes the Dandy with the Lion's mane! Surely is insidious--but I love them! But for the sake of the esthetics of the neighborhood, we KILLED them off!---and then we'd have to kill off their babies! Oh, the dastardly deed! I left it up to others, I couldn't do it myself!

Enjoyed your tongue-in-cheek humor this fine St. Paddy's Day!

Irish hugs,
Linda

Oh, the poor maligned dandy-lion!
And we think nothing of unleashing weapons of mass destruction on them, and just outside our doors.
Botanical maddness!
