We never let the indifference of critique Blind us to my undertaking. That solemn vow, I, to write, and you to read; So my soft, outreaching hand May ever be clasped in anticipation as you search The secrets I mesh in my poetic adoration. Perhaps a conceit to expect That such could appeal beyond Our promise, But this vow takes on so much more In it’s very being. These missives are our gift to the world; They breathe the hope that my kiss Imparts in them, feel the warmth of your Embrace and are Salted by tears of joy and yearning From both sides of a cruel divide. I would have them known and adored As I adore you; I write so that the world may one day Feel a pang of jealousy, a hint of awe And know in their whole being that which you Made your truth in our first heartbeat. They would search us out, curious To meet such creatures that love as we do, And surely in time one would find Enough in my words (so unique and wondrous are you) That they would lay their chin upon you shoulder And whisper with certainty, ‘you are loved,’ making you blush And think of me. ‘Whimsical dreams,’ you will chuckle to yourself as you read these Lines, but they remain ours forever. I received another rejection this morning, But I am not downcast, As it was not from you. |
