Poem - Stuff dreams are made on To wake you with a gentle kiss, Arms around you, soon dropping down in a touch like Silk. And so it would begin. Late to rise, too enraptured in each other's smile To let the morning carry a meaning it does not deserve, We would drift like sycamore pods, Our dizzy flight into rapture Such a wondrous dance. Perhaps a stroll, hands clasped like children, Hearts entwined like ancients And laughter ringing through the trees; A visit to the places I had been to long ago, Stood by alone, Wanting only you And sighing your name Into the breeze. We will stumble, almost drunk in spirit To some high place I have not yet seen And there we will look into each others eyes Waiting for night to come. Such beauty in those eyes, Such warmth and depth I know every trick of light upon them Every glint and flash Every hue they take on All written upon my soul in permanancy, Lest I be ripped from your arms and have But memory of your gaze upon me To keep me warm. And so I will be there with you Until the stars are high above us, Watching us in awe And as the meteor rips through the atmosphere And casts its trail, The speed of light itself will slow And our wish upon it seem endless As we creep toward midnight On our perfect day. |
