Dad, do you hear me? As I yell out this fearfull cry Do you know me? or am I cleared from your drunken mind while I sit here and wonder why... Days keep passing by without a word or sight of you You're the reason people cry Yes... even I do... |

Zenny, Very heartfelt. You captured perfectly the anguish and pain of having an alcoholic for a parent. Don't know how much of this might be a current event, but support through these sad times is important. There is an organization called Al-Anon and Al-Ateen here and probably available on WWW, which would help any going through such as in your poem. Hugs and love, Pat ..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.. "Desiderata" [This message has been edited by regards2you (03-12-2003 09:44 AM).] |

People say that time heals all wounds but for most things that just isn't true. I am sure the dad pictured here would be now regretful of what he has done. Nicely penned |

zenny, I could feel your hurt in this poem. I hope and pray that your Dad will follow through on the AA group and that things will be better soon. My prayers are with you. Hugs, Ethel |

Zenny, Sweetheart, when I was much younger, my father was an alcoholic, among other things. I hated him for all the pain he caused my mother and us, yet loved him cause he was my father. My father changed about 10 or so years ago and I've forgiven him. I hope and pray for you dear friend that things will improve with you and your father. And hopefully you'll find peace soon. I liked your poem. Your poem perfectly described how I had felt so many times. God bless you hon Jenny |
