Miss Johnson rocked upon her porch most every summer night. Just sippin tea and keeping tabs on everything in sight. The children seemed to love her and the stories she would share. And in the eve of summer breeze you'd likely find them there. Through the years she had seen them grow, from toddlers through youth. She swore she was a hundred-five and thats the gospel truth. She'd seen many true loves bloom like the roses on her lawn. But never two who were so "right" as Micheal and sweet Dawn. She'd scolded them as children for climbing in her trees. And kept a box of band-aids close for nursing skinned up knees. The two of them inseparable two young lives intertwined. Until the cruelty of fate left their differences defined. Young Dawn couldn't understand why Micheal acted strange. "Miss Johnson, whys he acting dumb?" "I'm just me, I haven't changed." "Well child, I don't rightly know, some things aren't mine to tell." How could she explain to Dawn what time would share as well. She could only send a silent prayer to God above. And chuckle to herself that there's no band-aid made for love. Remember me with a smile on your face, or please don't remember me at all. |
