surrounded by them all, she wants to turn off the noise, become numb, their voices hammering, her head spinning with family matters, dinner talk, chitter, chatter, like shrieking tires, stopping short of totaling her private space, violating her remaining sanity, she just wants to withdraw and dream, and scream, to be left alone, for really nothing that they've done, at that particular moment at all, more and more she relates to the world of Sylvia, the name her son sometimes likes to call her, seeing her lost in the basement, typing away, hours and hours after dinnertime, she sneeks in more wine, making sure to see that they're not watching her with wondering eyes, as to why, as of late, the increase in the nightly sauce, if only to get out of here for a while her performance over for the day, figure out a way, to slip away, when they're all asleep, leave this cumbersome, strange now place, fly to vegas, run to him for a while, then she stops herself, and wonders, will he even be there for her at all, when she really needs him even more than ever now, maybe she'll just take the redeye flight of mind, instead, lose herself in the salvation of her imagination, her faithful childhood saving grace, on this winter night, of piercing cold, barren streets, vacant sound, she yearns to remove herself from the warmth of home, to just sit crossedlegged and stare out, finding forever, now, on her blessed beach, where she always finds home, sit on beaten rocks, numbed and softened, by waters forgiving touch, to sit in silence all alone, would be the sweetest sound on her torn apart soul right now [This message has been edited by inkedgoddess (03-04-2003 10:50 PM).] |

ouchh can feel this one. I can see it too, you described it so well, and so beautifully. That dinnertable talk and sting can be the worst thing even imaginable. The beginning reminded me of holidays here, 'cause we bring in the uncomortable tear-you-up-with-deep-small-words kind of family. I hope that you can get away for awhile to some quiet, I'm sure you deserve a vacation. Love this write. Always, Alyssa - And so it was that time stood still - |

Very well written and real, Michele. I'm sure many people relate to this...I did for a very, very very long time. If this is about you, I hope that you can have some quiet time alone or with whoever you want to be with. Heart Hugs ![]() Ethel |

Michele, I know two women who would swear you wrote this just for them. I really enjoyed these thoughts: "The redeye flight of mind" "Her performance over for the day" "Finding forever" "Water's forgiving touch" You did so well with this. Can feel the anguish and boredom and sense of loss of self. Enjoyed greatly, Hugs, Pat ![]() ..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.. |

Outstanding! I'm saving this one, as it rings so true for so many parents who are unable to find a moment of quiet personal space. I used to sit on the jetty and watch the seagulls. Now, in the city, I'm lucky to have found apark full of ducks and geese, with the Rocky mountains in the background. Wishing you a peaceful corner... and maybe light a lavendar candle? |
