HELP!!

I can't figure this out.
I need to put a background image in what I'm doing.
I saved an image to my A: drive, and it says to put your image in the BODY tag.

I can't get the dang thing to work.
I've done this...
< body background ="gardenpage.gif" >

I've done this...
< img src="gardenpage.gif" >

And I've tried this...
< img src="a:gardenpage.gif" >

What in the bleep am I doing wrong here?
Why won't it show up???

I have as well right after BODY, link and vlink, and then continued on with the background. Do I need to close the link tags or what? I'm so confuuuused.

Yep, I figured it out after I posted this.
Then I changed it because the font isn't working well with it.

Now I have a new bgrnd image....and I'll be damned if I can figure out what I did.

Becca,

When you do this:

< img src="gardenpage.gif" >

you're telling the browser to search for the image in the SAME directory the html page is saved on. If you have them both saved in the same directory, all's cool. If not though, your browser's going to get confused.

When you do this:

< img src="a:gardenpage.gif" >

I don't even know what the browser's going to think. It may try to view it as a CSS definiton... dunno.

Try:

< img src="a:\gardenpage.gif" >

And see if that covers it.

Thanks Chris! Ya know what? I needed to get away from it for a while. I did that, and came back, and guess what I found? LOL

The file name somehow got saved as .ink, instead of jpg or gif. LOL

I got it now though and it's working phew!
It's been kickin my butt tonight LOL.

Now I have another question.

I'm doing 4 pages, and linking them together.
I have the links set up, and they're all (html files) are saved in the same place.

Now what I want to know is, when I click on  one of those links, do I have to have all 4 of those pages open in order for it work for me?  Or when I click on it, should it pull the file out and open it?

Because it's only working when I have the file open.     And I'm not sure if I'm doing it right.

I'm thinking that depending on what you have in your tag, it should work if the files are in the same directory. Basically, if the tag points exactly to where that page should be, then it should open when the link is clicked on.

What does your tag look like? And where are all 4 files?
