well I just discovered something that bothered me... I niftied up my website by making the images change on mouseover. I used a javascript code that I just copy/pasted from a web help page on the subject (I don't know anything about javascript at all) http://solutions.forplanetearth.com The thing is, the mouseovers work fine for me (I use netscape), so I assumed they were perfectly fine. But my friend using IE said she had to try really hard to click the little dot in the middle of the page to enter my site. Seems IE doesn't support javascript or something? Is there any other way to get the mouseover effect in my images? Or is there just something I'm doing wrong? |

I'm using IE v6.0 and have no problem seeing it or using it, Brian. Both IE and Netscape support JavaScript. The problem is that they support it differently - both as individual browsers and based on version. I'm going to assume that your friend has an older version of IE and it doesn't comply with the JavaScript code you used, though Netscape does. Have you checked older versions of Netscape? You may have a problem there as well. If you'd like, you can paste the code into here and we can look at it to see if we can make it more cross-browser compliant.  |

Thanks Chris, but I just fixed it... my friend Katie helped me. It was a problem with the codes. Next time be a bit quicker.  |

Rollover code guaranteed to work with every browser would probably run close to the length of a small book. And you know what? It would still bomb when a visitor hit your page with JavaScript turned off (as about 8 percent of surfers still do). When testing your pages, the last test should be to turn off both JS and images to make sure the functionality of the page remains intact. It's okay to be fancy, but your web site shouldn't depend on fancy, especially for navigation. Equal Opportunity Browsing for all.  |

She just told me to change "img1" to "pics1" and get rid of some other things I had in there with values of 0. Then it seemed to work fine for some reason I myself have no clue about. I'm just learning CSS... Javascript is too much for me.  Okay Ron, in that case, how do I do browser detection? There's something you guys can help me out on.
