"Obama said Friday that he entered office skeptical of the programs. But after thoroughly vetting them and adding additional safeguards -- which he did not identify -- Obama said he concluded they were worthwhile." In plain English, that means it was wrong when Bush did it but ok for Obama. One wonders why he didn't vet them before complaining about Bush. Obama claims "No one is listening to your calls". Well, that settles it. Obama never lies....does he? |

Is this really an issue about Obama? Isn't the more important question whether the data-mining or the extent of it is acceptable to the people and justified? |

Is it about Obama? Hmmm....was the passage of the Patriot Act about Bush? Seems like I recall that a few million Democrats thought so as they screamed his name....the same ones that are mysteriously silent now. Is data-mining necessary? Yes, if it is controlled. SHow me a fellow who is considered suspicious making calls to numbers in Yemen and I'll be the first to say check it out. Obama has gone far beyond that, which is one reason why he is being sued by the ACLU, one of his greatest endorsers up until now. Prudently controlled. Fires are set to control larger fires by creating breakways. When fires are set to burn down forests, it's arson. Is it really about Obama? Sounds like Hillary screaming, WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE???? when the questioning had her back against the wall. Yes, it is, Ess. he is the one who has abused it and taken it to the level it is now. He is the reason it's in the headlines now. Data mining is necessary. Control of it equally necessary. As with anything else, take away the control and you have a major problem. |

. I see where a general in military uniform testified that the program helped thwart a number of plots to do harm to Americans. I trust such men . . . The IRS issue on the other hand is something else . . . . |

The program is fine, John. It the excessiveness of it that is the problem. When Bush came out with it, it came with the stipulation that there needed to be a definite suspicion and covering calls overseas. Even with those limitations, Bush was crucified by democrats for even implementing that. We have gone from that to data-mining anyone anywhere making calls to anywhere, valid suspicion or not and those same democrats have no problem with it. It's all bull. Consider what Obama said in 2007 and what he is doing now....that says it all.  |

When Bush came out with it? I had no identity. Under Obama? I have no identity. My records of birth, marriage, and all et ceteras were on actual PAPER, and went underwater when the Federal levees broke in the surge of Katrina. (All records from the Westbank were sent to N.O.---N.O. sent them to Metairie, La.) Underwater (Tired of hearing about that? So am I.  )I...am...no..one. I have to stand behind a red line to protest that too. I'm no one. |

Just work to give those of use who wish for a reasonable Republican response. I'm all for two parties. I'm all in.  Seriously, that kind of stuff won't work anymore.
