I have many poems posted in open room one (and maybe even 2) that I would love to be able to print hard copies of... How can I access them or are they irretrievable now??? Guess it's my own dang fault for disappearing for soooooooo long  |

Nope, they still exist, Steve. Unfortunately, they exist only in database format, which makes them slightly useless. All of the threads in all of the forums actually exist twice - once in a compact database format and again as a much larger HTML page. It's the HTML pages, of course, that everyone sees. A month or two ago, I noticed our server was running dangerously low on disk space. Four gigs went by really fast! For contractual reasons, it's not very economical to add a new disk to Ceres until September (when our one year lease expires), so I had to come up with a way to keep us running until then. To conserve disk space, I deleted all the HTML files from our archives, though the database entries are still very much alive and well. That's the bad news. The good news is I think I've come up with a workable solution to tide us over until September. The new forum software, which should be installed within the next day or two, will generate the Archive HTML pages on request, rather than all at the same time. That means when you click on an Archive link, it will take a second longer to load in your browser, because Ceres has to generate it. But it also means we don't have to store over a gig of HTML pages that people access only occasionally. In short, we should have all of our Archives available again within the next few days. ---- p.s. Glad to see you back!  |
