Okay so I may be a little obsessed about being organized I admit, but this really might have changed my mind some.  Last night I decided to shred old bills, bank statements, etc. from the shred pile.  So, I got the shredder out and put the pile on the dining room table, and began shredding.  I must say that there is a certain amount of pleasure hearing that zzzzzzzzz, and poof the paper is gone.  I put the last little pile into the shredder, and I see blue, green, and freak!  I shredded the birthday card for my grand daughter Tasha with $50 inside it, that got into the pile of papers by accident!

Well, ever seen an Irish/Scottish blonde trying to piece together a 20, a 10, and four 5's.  It is pathetic.  I guess I have done more stupid things but I can't remember what or when right now. I just kissed $50 goodbye!  Argh!  However, I had a good laugh at myself anyway.

Have a great weekend everyone.

well I always thought that if you can tape together the majority of the bills and take them to the bank they will exchange them for you...give it a try!

Not here Maureen, I already called. I was glad to find out I wasn't the only one that was stupid enough to ask this question though.  They said maybe if a bill is in a few pieces, but this was actually shredded.

Shredding bills in one thing, but a person can take herself too literally, you know.  This is so very sad.

Do you think you might be able to get the serial numbers taped together? or at least three fifths of each bill?

     I am so sad. . .

Right Nan she is.  She just got $50 less in presents that is all, and when she opened the envelope and I told the story tonight at dinner, the laughs were definitely worth that $50.00.

Bob K. thank you for your empathy, and I do appreciate it.

Latearrival - Trust me I could write an instruction book on the things I have done.  Part of life, the part I laugh at myself, and move on.

Ess - Hope you were more amused than disgusted?

Michael, love that smilie, it's hilarious!

Thanks everyone for the advise but I called 3 different banks, and unless the money is ripped in "large" pieces and no more than 4-5, they may send it back, but this was confetti.  Trust me I tried to piece it together, just like in CSI.  That I have to tell you is the most patience I have shown in years.

LOL, some days it doesn't "pay" to be organized

Glad she had a nice birthday and some good laughs though!

I'm late seeing this, but it really made me laugh.  We have one daughter that's always out of money before payday arrives.  A couple of years ago, I saw a green wreath made out of actual shredded bills, tagged from the US MINT, I think.  I bought it and wrapped it for this daughter.  See, you just need to shred more, then you can make a wreath and sell it.

Ha ha, that could have easily happened to me too. Overhere one has to show at least more than half in order to get it replaced.
Otherwise one could tear it in several pieces and get the full amount back on each piece, LOL banks are not crazy.

I certainly will look closer now as to what I put in my shredder.

Like scattered leaves...my words will flow

My granddaughter was staring at me one night, and I began to get a little uncomfortable, so asked her if anything was the matter.  She smiled and said, "Gram, your hair is so pretty, but your getting blonder by the moment!"  ...  little does she know!  heheh.

I have a pile of papers to shred, too, but I'd be astonished to find any money in it.  I don't think there's any green around here, but holly leaves, and they are too prickly to hold onto!      A Happy Birthday to your granddaughter.

Sorry I just got back to his and chuckled at your responses.  I, at least have not had any more of those moments lately.  You just have to have a good laugh at yourself once in a while, but they were getting too frequent.

Cheers,
