Hi everyone, i might be really out of line to be saying this but... IF your going to post critisizing everyones work, would you please put down that you are willing to accept critisizm also! Don't go bashing people, and than say, "no, i'm to good for you to critisize". Not only is it rude, it creates ill will towards yourself! i don't mind if you critisize my work, but be willing to accept what i would like to say in return! I DO NOT bite! errr... i feel better, thank you? @-->--- |

You are welcome and good evening. I have some constructive criticism for you. Both your spelling and grammar are atrocious. I suggest you use a spell-checker prior to posting your criticized poems. "If this grand panaorama before me is what you call God... then God is not dead." |

Is this a general rant or a request prompted by a particular experience? |

To: JesusChristPose & Grinch Thank you, I do know my spelling and grammar are “atrocious”. I was very angry when I wrote this post and I was not thinking straight. This IS based on a particular experience, although not my own. Since it involves other people I shall not elaborate or bore you with details. @-->--- |

Stargal, So it’s just a general rant, no problem, it’s just hard to comment specifically on something without understanding the situation. As a general rant though I’d have to ask why you believe someone should have to be willing to receive a critique of their own poems before they are allowed to critique other peoples? Surely the critique flag on a profile is to show they’re willing to accept critiques from any quarter regardless of possible reciprocation? Unless of course that person wanted to exact some form of retribution for a harsh critique by flaming the critics own poem, but that could end up being flaming for flamings sake. If that was the case I think they’ve missed the point of constructive criticism. My advice would be if someone can’t take the criticism, or argue a case against any criticism offered, they shouldn’t ask for critiques in the first place. |

Grinch, Like I said, I was angry and upset when I wrote this, since one of my friends is involved. I am not saying that you must receive critiques before you start critiquing. I’m just asking that if you are going to critique someone else, you should be willing to receive critisizm also. Okay, that sounds really dumb! Your right, I’m coming from no where on this… I can’t explain in full detail what I mean to say because that would compromise several people. How about this, if your going to offer critisizm please make it so that it is instructive, not critisizm cause your in a bad mood… wow! I’m such a dummy That is pretty much what I did… all well… I apologize for taking up so much of your time in reading this. Since I obviously can’t back up my case without telling the whole story it is a waste of time for everyone to read. So I apologize now for those of you who have/will take the time to read this. Stargal~ P.S. Grinch, thank you for helping me see the error in my ways! I was way out of line posting this, since i can not explain anything. @-->--- |

Stargal, is this what you mean: If you are going to put someone down for their comments in this forum, then you should be willing to take the same? Or, perhaps you meant, if you are going to blast someone's statement, then you should not make it personal but back it up by arguing the facts they presented instead of making the argument something else? |

Stargal, I'm not sure which forum you are referring to. If you are referring to the poetry forums, derrogatory critiques are not acceptable and, if you receive one, you may check the "innapropriate box" at the bottom of the page the the moderators will investigate the incident. If you are referring to the Alley, this is a different kettle of fish. Direct insults are still not allowed but there is a lot more leeway here about how we respond to each other. Sensitivity and thin skin is checked at the door. |
