Exactly, Jaime, that's just the point I was making before. Bush did indeed respond on the spot to Rita, just as he did with Isabel and other hurricanes. The response from each level of the government and Bush on Katrina contrasts that completely. If anything, Rita clearly demonstrates how the local, state and federal governments and Bush CAN respond just this way to any major disaster such as this, and only further demonstrates the contrasting incompetence on their part during and in the early stages of the aftermath of Katrina. Hehe, by the way, Cheney would technically be President Halliburton! Sincerely, Noah Eaton "If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other" |

Welcome to the cheap shot section, Jaime. One thing we learned is that Texas knew how to prepare for a hurricane, how to evacuate towns (INCLUDING hospitals), and how to have the people respond - without the rioting. While the hurricane was hitting Texas, Louisiana was screaming for immediate money from the government. Yes, there was a great deal of difference between the two.... |

Great statement... I only have one small thing to add.... Since it was the VICE president that worked for Halliburton, and since the contract that everyone is screaming about was NEVER run past the president's desk (and I would guess he didn't know the name of the company to begin with) should you say You see: VicePresident Halliburton does care ??? When all is said |

But you miss the point, Ringo. The vice-president is not Bush but the target is. So you don't get the facts right...so what? Name Bush, no matter what.... |

This is also satire. Everybody knows that the President doesn't care and wants black people to die. Right? Likes watching Iraqi babies boil in oil, Right? Halliburton is a kind of code. Those to whom Halliburton means something know what it means. Well, doesn't it say here this is the forum for screaming your keyboard off? The only thing more absurd than absurdity ... |

I just can't believe that anyone would say, that the President of Our United States wants black people to die. How about all the Black people who did leave town when they were ask to. Don't put the blame on the President, put it where it belongs on the City Officials who did not provide transportation for those who couldn't afford it. Plus they didn't want to tell that they screwed up and hadn't taken care of their citizens, so they waited to ask for help. |

Jaime, remember...if this be satire? it might read better "VICE President, Halli Burton" ie the President of vice ok, ok, so this is your cue and your clue (roll on the floor laughing) If you read The Onion, you might also enjoy satiresearch.com...but if you don't like the smell of the Onion? well, Politics stinks anyway. |
