An Israeli anti-terrorism expert responding to a question regarding recent events there remarked that Britain must now go elephant hunting rather than gardening. What do you take that to mean? |

Duh. Hunt the bastids and their accomplices down, and worry less about prettying up everything, including making Africa look better (gardening). Also, that remark is an allusion to the time honored tradition among the elite to go big game hunting, with high powered rifles, guided by locals. In short, don't go hunting with peashooters (pea and straw, or any Derringer), but with the best and most powerful you have. Granted, nukes are not included in that arsenal choice. Otherwise, almost the entirety of the Middle East would be radioactive for many centuries. |

Remember that, even though it was shortly before it was confirmed, the comment would have been made with the understanding that the attack came from within England. What does “elephant hunting” instead of “gardening” mean then, and would England still be England in the difference? Would the United States? |
