i don't mean to promote violence, but i'd really like to @#$^# slap tom cruise and katie holmes. if i see one more fake smile, publicity stunt or b.s display of affection from these two loons i'm going to lose it. someone turn on the hose, and then beat them senseless with it. that is all. |

Second that motion Ya know... I keep seeing this sweet little girl from Dawson's Creek and then the guy from Top Gun and it just don't seem right. And all the while... doesn't Nicole Kidman look marvelous? |

Blah. Tom Cruise is trying not to reveal his true "self". Katie is trying to boost her career. They will be together until she gets going, have a very public break up...and be on their way. Anyone see those pics of his ex Penelope with her hand on Selma's behind? Him and Nicole adopted.. 'nough said. My 0.2. "too bad ignorance isn't painful" |

I don't know and I don't care, but I will say that she looks scared when she kisses him, not caught up in love....seems more like he is trying to appeal to a younger crowd...and you know it smells really bad that he had her come to his office for a "meeting" then WHAM! they are "in love" *whatever* not exactly what I want to focus on this summer...but yes, really it's disgusting...  |

I really never try to think too much of all these sorts of relationships. This is nothing new. These sorts of power relationships have been going on for many years, with older actors often dating younger actresses thirty to thirty-five years apart in numerous cases. Even if not for the relationship, I'm sure both Cruise and Holmes would have enjoyed great box office success this summer with "Batman Begins" having rave reviews and "War of the Worlds" one of the most anticipated films of the season. I'm confused as to why it's of interest to anybody, much less annoying. It's no more annoying to me than the pretentious couples who "hide" their affairs, and make a point of publically cringing before photographers, making themselves even more obvious with seperate cars and public denials. I don't care if Tom Cruise is dating a camel. shrug Penelope Cruz did. |

I think he has and always had the smarmiest face in the world. He's that one bloke who, I just DON'T GET why women can find so attractive. My other 'tom' used to be George Clooney...i don't see the fuss, but he isn't smarmy looking at least. My female 'tom' is Renee Zellewegger, when she does that weird smiling like a mole with eyes closed and pout face that looks so insinscere. and the fact that she raved on about playing briget jones was a celebration of a woman who was bigger than average, or words to that effect...i thought briget still looked skinny in the film?!! I must be one massive heffer. and the fact that she personally celebrates this in real life by slimming down to unbelievably scary proportions! yeah, don't contradict yourself much love... I think its the insincerity in peoples faces that can be so off putting. i may be wrong about renee, but Tom, his smile screams hollywood false. I too am sick of seeing it, since i had had enough of toms toothy-white sharks grinning before this katie thing began. and i don't like looking at her for long either. Angelina and Kelly Brook are my women to stare at at the moment. am i sad? predictable? P.S - Yes, I am suffering from PMT. |

They take their time, and (hopefully) know what the heck they are doing....really well..at least, that is my take on it and Gem...I can not stand Renee Zelwhatever...she looks so fake...it's not right...it's like she's glaring, not smiling. She only liked Bridget Jones cause of the paycheck....  |

I trot this out whenever this argument comes up (er...arises?) whatever For the two Susies and my local rebel: In Praise of The Older Man Don't get me wrong, I love them all, stocky, thin, short and tall... in ties and suits or just blue jeans, boxers, briefs, or nothing please! It used to be the pretty boys who always turned my head--- then one day I noticed that they loved themselves instead! So give me now the gentle man-- the one that's learned through time, acquiring taste for finer things-- a palette for fine wine. I love the silken silver hairs of forestry on chest... and every wrinkle round the eyes boasts laughter and the tears they've wept. I love the way they look at me as if they can't believe their luck... my next rhyme now must be discreet-- but I love the way they love! An older man, you'd think would rush, but no, he savors every touch. He acts as though he is quite blest-- as if I were a treasure chest; and when he thinks that I don't see I catch him gaze adoringly... When I'm blue, he understands. In sympathy he holds my hand. It's a relief to just be held and in his arms I love to dwell and listen to his stories told-- each one a nugget of pure gold. I love them all, please understand, but there is nothing better than the gentleness of gentleman-- Oh give to me, the older man! |

Local Rebel....but, I'm in my 50's and women are chasing after me all the time?..(of course I don't believe it's because I owe them money, of course it couldn't be because I borrow their cars, surely it's not cuz I eat all their groceries, and I doubt seriously it's not because I try to run off with their 21 year old daughters) |

Funnily enough, it is genuinely possible for a younger woman to care about an older man for reasons other than money or security.... likewise an older man can genuinely care about a woman who is younger for reasons other than recovering a lost youth or looking good in public... love is love, when it's real, it's the people involved that matter, not the number of years they've had on the planet K |

Second hubby was dating a woman prior to meeting me - but it came to her, after looking at her hands, that she was at LEAST his age, perhaps older. He asked, and she admitted her age. He went stage right. I think men going for younger women has a lot to do with the idea of "control". Although that is not always the case, it does come to mind that they also may feel the wife will become the "caretaker" in later years... of course, I could be way off base, too. |
