“Beslan leader 'planning repeat'

The Chechen warlord Shamil Basayev, who ordered the Beslan school siege, has warned he is planning further attacks.

The rebel leader made the threat in an interview with Britain's Channel 4 News, filmed about three weeks ago. . .

The Russian foreign ministry said broadcasting the interview amounted to "informational support of terrorists".

It said it had called on British authorities to stop the broadcast.

The British Foreign Office said while it "absolutely and unreservedly condemns Shamil Basayev's involvement in terrorist activities", it was not its responsibility to prevent the transmission.”

Isn’t Channel 4 News crossing a line into collaboration?  What if CBS News agreed
to have and broadcast an interview with Bin Laden at an undisclosed location?

Didn't Dan Rather interview Saddam Hussein at a secret location? Not much different, I think.

Anyone who doesn't happen to like or approve of what the press is reporting thinks they have justifiable reasons to prevent them from reporting it.

They don't. And God help us all if they ever do.

I agree very strongly with Ron.  The only reporter who's really pissed me off was Geraldo Rivera when he was an embedded reporter during the main battle against Saddam and his military.  That nimrod gave their (unit he was embedded with) location, distance, direction, speed, and objectives!  He was quickly booted, fired, and did freelance for other new agencies.  Since Fox let him back in their company, he's been a whole helluva lot more careful about letting his mouth run.

Partly due to their own actions and consequences.  Since President Nixon, the media and press has been relentless and relatively uncaring for anyone they destroy or hurt in the quest for News.  And it's coming back to them, and they really don't much care for it.

Got to agree on Geraldo. I still don't understand why Fox let him back in. He would have been better "strung up."

They broadcasted his threats of physical violence
against innocent men women and children,
(who by their nationality he does not consider
innocent).  I have no issue usually, but this
makes me uncomfortable, an aid and abetting;
like helping a serial rapist terrorize women
in a community.
