My sincere appologizes to Gunslinger on my obvious misunderstanding. He has sent me a reply stating he had no understanding that the virus was attaced to the e-mail. [This message has been edited by hoot_owl_rn (edited 11-12-1999).] |

Did he just send a virus or was it in his reply..perhaps it was an accident? A lot of people don't have 'virus scanners' or know that they should have them....I wonder if this would create a problem here..can he transmit a virus to Passions? |

Hoot....maybe give the benefit of the doubt? I would find it hard to believe he would do this.....but ya never know these days. I do know however, a virus can attach in many ways.....I hope this is the case here. If indeed it's not the case, let me know....I'll send him an epidemic that will jam his gun for a very long time!!! LOL |

The e-mail with the virus attached was by itself. It was sent as an attachment with no message. Had it been sent on his reply to my letter I could see it possibly being a mistake. But theis was a totally different e-mail and the only thing it contained was the virus attachment Happy99. I started to open it and my computer caught it was a virus before it opened it up totally. I have no idea what to expect now if anything. [This message has been edited by hoot_owl_rn (edited 11-12-1999).] |

Hoot: Heaven knows I'm one of the most computer-illiterate people online. *S* But as I understand some of these viruses, if HIS computer has been affected, it could be utilizing his email addresses without his assistance. I know there was an incident fairly recently at another site I visit where someone was sending viruses and swearing she wasn't... because she honestly didn't know she was. Maybe he doesn't either. |

This Virus is an e-mail worm, he would have had no knowledge of it sending the e-mail. I'll send you a URL it gives you the details of how to get rid of any files it may have copied to your PC. |

Hoot, the Happy99 worm is a virus one has no knowledge about. It sends itself to the person you send an e-mail to, as a separate email, and you don't even know it's in your computer until some one tells you. I had this happen to me one day and, thank goodness my Virus scanner gave a full alert. : ) If you have deleted the e-mail without opening the attachement, you should have no problem. You may have to check MS-dos- e-mail - received, to find out if the virus is still visible there. If it's there, you will recognize it easily. Just edit and delete the darn thing. : ) |

I found several web sites that take care of it. Thanks Craig and Munda |
