‘“The problem with young people,” she said, “is not that they think they will never get old. It’s that they think that old people have never been young.”’ The Danger Tree David Macfarlane Ah, the poor baby, poor baby boomers. It must be difficult for those now twenty to thirty years old to see images from Woodstock, Vietnam . . . and make a connection between them and those graying if not already gray or white haired misters and missuses sliding toward retirement. Remember: “Never trust anyone over thirty”? There’s nothing like a mini-skirt and varicose veins, or a paunch in tight blue jeans. The obituaries begin to have paragraphs on some who aren’t “that old!” It would be interesting to hear how the now generation views them. How those boomer guys and girls view themselves. |

I think you need look no further than PIP to find the answer. The answer to what younger generations think is not as negative as you might think. Read the journals in the Lounge, the Feelings, and Announcements forums and you'll find how well the generations can blend together. You'll often find the younger ones listening intently to those 'Woodstock' tales, you'll find teens asking their advice, and you can check out the Mature forums and watch them share a dirty joke or two, or ten if Toe is involved. I think places like this give the younger generation an understanding and appreciation of boomers, and I think it gives them an understanding that everybody under the age of 30 isn't an irresponsible, vapid hellion. |

Ditto what Raph wrote. John, I do believe your focusing lens needs adjusting or cleaning. |

The marvel of PiP, John, is that we all work very hard to keep this a family venue in ALL forums. We sit down as a huge family to discuss, converse, argue, joke, tease, and above all, remember that when we see something that we do not like, we have the option to click out. I truly find myself never quite understanding what it is you are looking for in some of your posts. They never seem to invite questions. They are more like worldly statements of opinions that you have made, or opinions of others, sometimes, but I remain in the dark as to their intent and purpose in your posts. But I will continue reading, and continue trying to understand what it is you are attempting to share with us. |

When I was little, 4, 5 and so on, I always wanted to sit with the adults instead of play with kids. It didn't matter if they were talking about taxes or politics... and I was quiet, so it wasn't like I got extra attention. I'm almost 17 now and my best friends are in their mid-twenties. My dream job? I want to work at a nursing home with the elderly. But then, I was never quite like the others... Always, Alyssa He was a man of sorrows |

Alyssa, Go to the library, find “The Danger Tree”. It’s a good poignant read. John |
