“DOING THE BLUES” by Bill Charles ~~~~ Strumming rhythm chords, playing a song at the bar… You sat down to listen, to my haunting guitar… Noticed you on that stool, head swaying, wanting more… Lips whispering a song, walked then, to the floor… Seen you out there dancing, hips moving, a swaying beat… Keeping time to this music, just barely moving your feet… Wanted to join you there, this music surely accrues… Tonight I was a playing fool, for you, just doing the blues… ~~~~ |

Bill "if music be the food of love, play on." loved this, made me want to get up and "shake my groove thing" ... if I could only find it. lol. Well done. Chris Life is not measured by breaths you take, but by moments that take your breath away. |

I like this poem...reminds me of New Orleans. I was down there on the fourth of July for a poetry convention and the blues was the flavor of some of their music. Somehow, it complimented the spectacular fireworks display over the Missippi River... ***Ivy Rose |
