You said you wanted happiness, A though that sounded great. You said you needed peace of mind I offered you a plate. You said you wanted me around. I showed you how to make it. I gave the opportunity How come you didn't take it? You know the things I need to have. My life's an open door And, in return I'd give and give, And then I'd give some more. But, either I am very dumb Or you're not very smart. While I spent my time giving, You were taking me apart. You never tried to understand What I was all about And now, instead of giving, I have simply given out. Frustration makes my muscles ache But life is for the living. How sad you finally came to take When I was out of giving. |

Hey sweetie, I'm glad I came in here and found this on the board! I can't sleep so I wandered in here. Isn't it funny how people always decide they want something when is it already too late? You, sir, are mr. wonderful in my book! Thank you for fulfilling my request for an older poem |

(smiles) YAY!!! Oh my gosh, I'm so happy my love requsted this marvelous poem of yours, this is a wonderful message indeed! (big hugggsssss) I think we all have these feelings every now and then where we just want to give more to make a friendship or relationship last and sometimes you think you haven't given enough and it can be very hard indeed. (sigh) We all love you so much, sweet friend, you are one of the most giving and loving friends to us all! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Michael, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |

quote: *sigh*...... very sad lines it's funny how when i've felt like i've given and given and given and have no more to give, there always seems to be more to give...... and my life's an open Dor, it's true.... and I give and give, and then i give some more ....to you if ya want but the key word you used in your verse, i think is, "in return".... i think giving should be done without expectation of anything in return..... that way, when you get nothing back, you still have more to give and then you can keep on giving and giving and still getting nothing because if you expect nothing, you get nothing, and that's what you deserve.... NOTHING!!!!! as a matter of fact, if a person presents themselves as a person who expects nothing, then they are perceived as nothing much at all and who wants to give them anything? y'know???? *wink* LOL!!!!!! i crack myself up... but anyway, nothing i can say can add to this beautifully penned verse... but i'll keep giving and giving my comments anyway, because why not? it's not like i expect my comments to mean anything because they probably mean nothing and i certainly have plenty of them to continue giving, my sweet 'deer Poet!!!! hehe.... hey Michael!!! as always, great writing, babe.... you said it in spades!! i remember this one.... i loved it then and i love it even more now..... seems to be a pattern with me |

’Deer dearest heart OH MY now this I like, I like it a LOT. I’ve read it before, but that doesn’t make it any less valuable, in fact as a life lesson it’s utterly utterly invaluable truly wonderful writing. As always dear ‘Deer you write with class and excellence. Great stuff. And I got to answer before Krissy She’ll be Green with envy. I know she’ll be along tonight so expect a visit. Knowing the way she blitzes the place I suggest you all hang on to your hats. Now that remark will cost me dear This is utterly wonderful and I love it love it love it it’s all fabulous but the verses that grabs me the most are But, either I am very dumb Or you're not very smart. While I spent my time giving, You were taking me apart. You never tried to understand What I was all about And now, instead of giving, I have simply given out. That is sooooo telling, You are a brilliant writer, thank you for posting this again As always Mushy To give light to them that sit in darkness..... to guide our feet into the way of peace Luke 2:79 |

’Deer Hi there, this is a very fine piece of work from you, if you’re going to do requests can I request some? Pretty please. I am after all a real newbie, and I love all the poems I’ve read of yours. And it will teach mum a lesson for crowing about getting here first. We’re a competitive pair aren’t we, I know I’m never going to win I’m not over here often enough. But a repost for me now that would be recompense wouldn’t it This really is a very very well written and an excellent study in relationships, thank you for placing it here for me to see. Love and warm stuff As always Krissy And while thy willing soul transpiers |

Translate 'old stuff' as 'TIMELESS' and you are right. This is one of your best. And I think someone needs to teach Krissy how to search for your name! |

I remember this...and it is as full of wisdom now as it was then but change second line, 'though' to 'thought', I think? Thanks for the repost... |

SEA...no doubt you are a giver. Hubby better know how lucky he is!! RosePetal...my pleasure, miss...Anything for a fellow Floridian (as long as they are as nice and sweet as you). Glad you enjoyed Lucie...that might be because we are very much alike in some ways, ya think? I hope so!! :hatoff: Noah...you have one sweet lady there, as if you didn't know, and she's got a pretty good fella....glad you liked it Nan..maybe "aged" would sound better! Whatever we call it, I'm glad you like it, my friend. Floria..thank you, dear lady. The poetry may not be but the poet sounds like Rice Krispies when he gets up in the morning!! SmartChick..as long as there are people like you, I'll always be around... Doreen...I agree with everything you said...whatever it was. LOL! For some reason I have an urge to sing "I've Got Plenty of Nothing"! Thank you for liking it.... Michael..nice to see you! As always, I appreciate your comments very much. Thank you.. Duncan..that sounds like a "been there done that" comment....yep. Mushy...you and Krissy are quite a pair! I'm sure there is no dullness in that house when you two get together! Thank you, mushy, for such generous praise... suthern..I was SURE someone would take the "old stuff" as referring to me and not the poem! Thanks for not disappointing me...SNAKE!!! Krissy...how can I refuse a lady's request?? It shall be done...and mum can walk you through the archives one day to see more. Thank you for such wonderful words and remember...it doesn't matter who's first...but who's last! Interloper...yep, there's always someone there to take it, isn't there? Life is set up that way on purpose. I think it started with the Ark.... Poet DeVine..timeless has a good ring to it! I'll start using that when people ask how old I am...or my poetry is! *wink* Sunshine...thank you for saying it is still full of it! And, yes, a spot of T would do nicely, I think!! |

Wonderful stuff here, and thanks to Interloper for 'giving' me the link to this. It's amazing how many of us seem to be able to relate to a part of this. Universality again? |
