Judgement Day "The first angel sounded his trumpet, and there came hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled down upon the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up. " NIV Revelation 8:7 A void, God kissed in stormy mist A flame exploded spreading gas A spirit tree grew quickly, free And built all heavenly mass. And earth was formed from firmament In a gaseous atmosphere As spirits roamed the heaven's night Bright stars and planets did appear. War was breaking, heaven shaking One-third dark angels cast to earth As gods did play in wild array Man quickly learned evil and mirth. Floods washed away man's wicked play And language was broken one day For man with God's tools became fools Tribes were scattered with confused say. And prophets warned as man did harm As God looked down in deep sorrow Sick man on earth; living in dearth As if there was no tomorrow. God sent The Son; The Holy One Man's flesh with God's Spirit of Love To die on a cross save the lost With Salvation, grace from above. Love's connecting for reckoning Will pull chosen spirits away Earth's gonna burn; spirits will learn On God's Final Judgment Day. Judgement Day. Dear Newell, I liked the internal rhymes you scattered through this one, and the sweeping breadth of the the poem. Nice. Nan |
