Written 7/11/2000 We pay a toll, those of Irish soul, For livin' and lovin' our way, Our lives are not droll as through life we stroll, On both high and the low roadway. Aie! To be sure tis a mixerumgatherum, Of Lovin' and laughin' and cryin', With luck to a good round age live some, Er their women lament their dyin'. Then black tis the day that the divils skirl, Echos across glen and lake, Then tis jig unfurled in a whirlin' twirl, That celebrates us in our wake. But enough of death for I've still me breath, And so much life to live, Not yet reached to half the depth, Of the Love that I've to give. But know darlin' the long and short, I bawl in sudden fit of affection, I'm not disinclined to a wee snort, Nor brawl to an insults correction. Tis a hearty welcome, fair bidden I sheen, Wishin' all even vagabonds well, Woe be to the ill mannered jackeens, Who offend from the army of hell. For by hook or by crook I've a rueful face, When their manners are partin' from, Then it's nimbly whipt all over the place, While usin' their heads for a drum. For an Irish lads right to passage, Needin' two things in the least, As a teen a fight with his Da engage, And to curse out a priest. As unwieldy as these words may stir, They from generations wend, For the priest becomes the mans confessor, And his father becomes his friend. "Happy people have no history" - French Proverb |

Bravo!! Much enjoyed. Chris Life is not measured by breaths you take, but by moments that take your breath away. |

Well look who went and not only answered the challenge but sure and he went to the divil himself to find the brogue to go with it! Ah, clever you are, me lad! I would have one more to go with, and then I shall not be without! |
