I wrote this poem last year after spending time with a child who had been abused. Also, I have an adult friend who was sexually abused as a child. To this day, she suffers emotional problems and still seeks counsel. I am not posting this to take away from Brian's Posting of yesterday which was so powerful. I post it as another reminder of this terrible pain that is inflicted upon helpless children. Wanda Haunted Eyes Quietly seated on a chair her head bowed low weighted down with care hoping no one would know Her name is called she lifts her head “ Yes’m” she drawled Her eyes were set ahead The pain was there written on her face the haunted stare the need for space Tears welled up inside seeing this child’s pain her innocence had died What did her father possibly gain How do you forget haunted eyes haunted eyes of a child How do you forgive a father’s lies the many times this child was reviled Surely God must have a place for one who causes a child’s cries May he ne’er forget that sweet face and eternally see those haunted eyes Written by, Wanda L. Wanda This is so terribly sad and painful to read. I have read it several times and my tears keep blinding me. You have done a marvelous job putting it down in words. This one is a keeper. |

Wanda this is heartwrenching, and God most surely will judge those who hurt His young ones. A beautiful write about a tragic horrible crime. floria Floria |
