Lone Wolf Mc Bane In the hills of Wyoming lived a man people called Lone Wolf Mc Bane People said he was half Cheyenne his companion was a dog named Cain Lone Wolf lived alone in the hills not desiring the company of man He lived off the land and his skills skins of animals he would tan His tepee was made of leather hides fashioned to poles he had cut Pictures were painted on the sides skins hung where the door would shut Lone Wolf shared his life with Cain they hunted or fished each day At night the tent was their domain by day they went out to hunt and play One day while hunting a large bear Lone Wolf saw a horse coming his way He saw an Indian maiden with long hair her beauty nearly took his breath away He wished he could reach out and touch her but he feared he would frighten her away She was wrapped in the warmth of fur He wondered, “Did she from her people stray” In his excitement, Cain began to bark causing the maiden to look in his direction As she turned he saw her eyes were dark she was a masterpiece of perfection He stepped out from behind the rock carrying his quiver of arrows and bow Her face and eyes registered shock in seeing a man she did not know Was it fear he saw upon her face of that he could not be sure She knew he was of the Cheyenne race to him she looked so sweet and pure To show her he meant her no harm he spoke to her the words of welcome He dropped his weapons to disarm and hoped, to fear, she would not succumb She felt this man was good and kind and stepped down from her horse To him she seemed so gentle and refined within him raged a driving force Cain trotted over to stand by her side he whined and gently licked her hand Cain’s longing for her touch was not denied on her arm Lone Wolf saw her tribal band He could see she was of Sioux descent surely her people were not far away Perhaps talking to her, they would resent horses on the horizon filled him with dismay She motioned for him to come close they stood at her horse’s side She tried to keep him from being exposed he stood very still: she climbed astride The Sioux came close as she waved her hand indicating all was well; she would return He moved not at all, like a statue he did stand inside his feelings for her did churn The Sioux rode their horses a distance away he stood alone looking up into her eyes What fate had brought them together today would they be able to say their good-byes They smiled at each other and both knew something special had occurred The sky had never seemed so blue in their hearts love for each other stirred He very gently touched her hand he knew he wanted to ask her to stay Could she leave her people and land he must speak now without delay Written by, Wanda 2/1/02 |

Floria; Thank you for your gracious comment. As to your question, "yes" I have given consideration to writing a book. I am working on a manuscript for the Publishing Company at the present time. This happens to be a book of my poems. I am also looking at the possibility of publishing a book of my story/poems. Wanda |
