I have been defeated
so many times before,
but I have picked myself up
from off of that cursed floor.

How many times can I lose
without finally giving in?
How often must I fall
before I finally win?

Thought things had started to change;
that I was indeed on the right track,
I just wanted to move ahead
without ever looking back.

Things are not always
the way that they might seem,
and life is not that simple;
it's not just a happy dream.

Now I carry the scars
born of defeats from the past.
With time, the wounds will heal
and only the scars will last.

Oh, I might face defeat
time and time again;
but I'll rise up from the floor,
because I KNOW where I have been.

On the wings of words our spirits fly....and our souls are free.

The best way to defeat all that seemingly comes to best us...is to know where we have been, and if it was the wrong track, don't get back on THAT horse...

That's the spirit, sweet friend, and we know if we reflect on where we've been, we have the strength to finish getting through the storm and making a comeback from the battles we've lost against our demons and sorrows!
