At the Rim of Decision she was fully at peace as she stood at land’s edge her decision sure her reasoning, right she listened to the distant gulls, the gentle surf, as the waves unfurled like a dressing gown in a summer morning’s breeze, her heart’s rhythmic pulses lulled her to fine repose as a gentle smile graced the beauty of her countenance. never had she been so certain never had she felt this peace that passes all understanding excitement rose in her, she turned back toward the village and the gleaming steeple before her vows that would carry her into her future a future secured by faith, a future assured with a holy promise that was steadfast, pure she barely felt the sand and grasses beneath her feet yet the foundation upon which she placed her steps was firm, everlasting she knew without doubt this was her true path she would follow her Polaris her North Star for He would ever be her Lord, her Savior, her Guide. ©April 1, 2002 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |

Almost everyone needs to get off by themselves and remind themselves that God is always there. I know I've had to do that and it has really helped me put things in perspective. Very good descriptions in this....nice work. ~sky I'm in charge, and I say question authority! |

Virginia When I first read this I felt like it was about someone about to be wed...but then I realized that the wedding was more devine..perhaps becoming a nun. In any case, the poem felt like it came from history and a young girls feelings. Nicely done! |

Oh, thank you, Martie! That's exactly the two-fold possible meaning I wanted it to have. But really, isn't it possible that any endeavor that truly feels like the right path could be following divine guidance, don't you think? She could be marrying, becoming a minister, becoming a nun. That's ultimately what I'd like this piece to be saying and you have given greater confidence that I have conveyed that meaning. Thanks again! Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
