A Voyage

Traveling at night,
full moon to the left of us,
shifting to the right,
a turn, now it’s straight ahead –
a giant head light.

Kids cheer in the back,
deceived by this illusion,
by knowledge we lack;
play a game - to outrun it,
moonlet, on attack.

Scape of dark spires;
of gray snow bordering roads,
small eyes soon tire,
retreat to blankets, of dreams
where light inspires.

Your hand touches mine
sharing our own cloaked comfort,
a rare, quiet time,
bluegrass to choreograph
soft strokes of the mind.

You captured a chaotic moment and turned it into a simple and romantic one.
(or so was my interpretation)
I really enjoy your writing Corinne.

Corinne...what a blissful memory this brought back of taking those long trips that were done at night alone because it was cooler then [pre-AC'd car days] and those long old station wagons where the kids could stretch out and still fit comfortable [if you like toes in your nose from your brother's angle] but there, up in the light of the radio, sat Mom and Dad, her head on his shoulder [also pre-seatbelt days], a halo of light around both of their heads...

bless you!

Thank you Blues Seranade and Sunshine!

That is exactly what I was thinking about when we were driving with the kids last Friday night and the moon was full.

We used to head out for our trips (yes, also in a station wagon!) in the middle of the night, too, and we thought the moon was chasing us!

Thank you for reading and commenting!

(smiles) Wow, this too gave me a vision of staring out at the sun in the distance upon the boondocks hand in hand in despair and how the warmth of his hand makes you feel happy and soothes your mind and how you gently float away with him on a ferry ride speckled with fireflies! (kiss on cheek) This is wonderful and filled with serenity, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Corinne, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
