In ’82 CB’s were the lifeline even if only Traveling 20 miles One way to work one way back to work One was at night one was by day We all CB’d, the truckers seeing something I didn't see ~ started calling me sunshine ~ ~ handle of their choice ~ Some truckers were regulars looking for that little Pontiac, that Firebird with their imagined firebrand inside and I sunshined my way Morning And night Back and forth Between work And work Highway 94 knew the rub of my wheels and the sound of my exhaust truckers knew the sound of my voice claiming the sun came from my smile If I ran late because of work getting to work the truckers knew and watched out, making room for more sunshine There are those who know danger and those who know a lady talking they didn’t confuse the two woe to the one that thinks there’s fun when the truckers watch out for sunshine you've heard stories that truckers talk the talk walk the walk I have found none to fit as well as they would want some to believe I have only encountered the gentle man and perhaps that is just Luck Or Fate I haven’t seen the one that would discredit himself nor the brotherhood of real men Perhaps it is the wanna be who trucks along imaging a lifestyle he will really never know Truckers are rare breeds they take care of themselves where you and I falter and know loneliness by want not because there is nothing else they can’t do but what they chose to do If you ever wonder at an empty shelf in a store that you frequent perhaps it is because a trucker died that day |

(sigh) This is a powerful reflection on 1984 and other times like this, sweet friend, I could envision the interstate and the truck-drivers along the roads reading this! (big hugggsssss) This is excellent, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Great work, Decaflame... I 94, runs right past my house, behind some acres of woods...and late at night when the world is still, I can hear the trucks on their routes between Detroit and Chicago. copyright2002 Lyra Nesius |

Whoo Hoo!! Hey, Deca, what's your 10-20? LOL...I love this..being a CB'er from way back! Those truckers sure can be real gentleman-like to a lady too! Would help with flat tires, directions, you name it! Gee, you brought up a lot of memories here...my 'handle' was/is Butterfly. Shortened from Madame Butterfly. Imagine that! I'm sitting here just beaming! Another female CB'er. Good stuff here Deca. I'll be 10-7. Catch ya on the flip-flop! ~73's Nancy~ |
