Why am I here?I wonder
with this needle in my arm
attached to an intravenous
pumping toxic poison harm

into my bloodstream, it flows
to keep the cells from dividing
so new ones won't be born
and old ones will go into hiding

it aims to kill the enemy
but often hurts the host
blood counts fall with nausea
but its hair loss that hurts the most

it'll be worth it, if it helps me to live
for many more years
I've so much left to give
to write more poems and post them at Passions
I want to have fun
with more seasons of fashions

I want to see my grandchildren
graduate from college
and share with the world
their wisdom and knowledge

I want to be an old lady
with hair of silver grey
as I sit here, being poisoned
its for this that I pray

When I was 25 years old, I was the oldest of 3 taking care of a friend who, at 17, was being treated with chemotherapy. I've lived the B side of your world.
I don't read as much poetry as I'd like to, but when I read yours...it leaves me feeling better than before I did.

Lyra darling girl, my wonderful brave and inspiring friend I’m humbled by the amazing life I see in you. The sheer beauty of your soul and the wonder you manage to portray even when you are writing about the treatment of your cancer. TRULY this is one of your utter utter best. You know I love this don’t you? Good it’s beautiful in its explanation of how you are getting through this. My thoughts are always with you darling heart, take care.

I am indeed, glad that my poetry leaves you feeling good, because writing it has been very therapeutic for me.
I look at the events of my life, both good and bad...as material for my poetry...and lately it seems that I have had entirely too much material.

Thanks Nan...They can poison my body but I don't think they can poison my soul because I won't give them accesss to it.

I am trying very hard to believe, but its hard to stay positive when things keep falling apart.
I am just thankful that I have such a wonderful husband who takes such good care of me and also that I have many wonderful friends, like yourself and the others here at Passsions, who keep me in their prayers.

Each Wednesday, I get poisoned and Monday thru Friday, I get shot with radiation...

I agree with you and that is the only reason why I am letting myself be poisoned in the first place.
If it doesn't work, I will have plenty to ***** about, won't I....
