passing

Love,
let us not in passing sorrow
grieve for days now lost tomorrow,
nor in obligations on the way
forget what now is yesterday.

Certain is the mind to doubt the heart
can turn back time, shatter reason
with a craving so far apart
as two fires in summer winter seasons.

Nor can the heart in such notion
dispossess the pulse of light
reeling on the planetary motion
that sends all time in flight.

Had I ever looked on beauty so rare
before, and touched a mind alive so
as one would touch a song where
angels dare, and left alone,

I would surely have died twice.
And had you seen in me some other,
or in play lost the song for the day,
I would not now know the joy it brings
to know you hear and heard you sing.

No.  You make me live.  Fire and ice,
hunger, light,
the beat of touch and reach and fall,
are all but the wind of this desire
now passing.

What is grief
but another song of love
everlasting.

"What is grief

The whole poem captured me, but these lines above will stay with truth in me.

Thank you, Martie.  To stay in truth.  I don't know what to say, but thank you.
