Loving Both of Me By Larry Chadwick I want to thank you for loving, The contradictions that are me. Though I prefer to show the best, The rest you never fail to see. Thoughtful and considerate are nice, But not all that easy to maintain. Yet you love me at those times, When this style I am unable to sustain. Romantic and sensual are important, But aren’t possible every moment. Yet in spite of those failings, You still act so content. Helpful and supportive are necessary, But sometimes I just think of me. Yet you manage to accept things, When they aren’t as I wish they could be. So while I want to be the better one, I accept that I am also the other as well. And I want to always honor you in kind, How I do love you…I like to tell. March 24, 2002 Everybody thinks of changing humanity and nobody thinks of changing himself. Leo Tolstoy |

Now that is the definition of unconditional love. I mean really, in a perfect world we would all be perfect... and how mundane would that be!! We are what we are, nothing more and nothing less. My motto is, love me or leave me, like it or lump it. There are some that do and some that don't and that's a good thing, they've weeded themselves out all on their own. (Oh boy that was a profound statement) Great poem Larry~ |

Susan, There goes my fantasy! But I have learned to accept reality. Thanks it helps to know that my thoughts are of value to you and not just the confession of my own shortcomings. Peace. Lyra, You never cease to amaze me. What a delight to see you logging time in the blue halls. And thank you. Peace and strength to you friend. Tara, Truly unearned but genuinely appreciated. Thanks. Lori, Aren't you just the philosopher tonight. LOL Genuinely profound. Candor Inc. that's us. ROTFL Thanks. amigo, Can't imagine that one-sided coin would be all that useful. LOL Thanks. Larry, are you trying to tell me you aren't perfect??? You know, this is sweet, and shows real love, which is an unusual thing, and to be treasured. Sandra |

Nicely done larry... enjoyed the honesty and insight. No.. none of us are perfect, and finding the one that supports, understand accepts and still loves us because of it is pretty special. I'd say you have done well to find such a person. I enjoyed! |

But that is what unconditional love is...loving someone despite "the other one"...and for all the right reasons. How often does that happen? Not too often, and it is a mark of genuine thoughtfulness to realize and appreciate it! Nicely done Larry! |

Hello Larry This was so wonderfully written and so very true. No one is perfect but how lucky we are when we feel comfortable with one anothers imperfections. It is all part of the package. I could relate well to this. I was also reminded of a Billy Joel song as I read your words : "Don't go changing to try and please me You never let me down before Don't imagine you're too familiar And I don't see you anymore ........ I took the good times, I'll take the bad times I'll take you just the way you are" Take care......Sue Suetang [This message has been edited by Suetang (03-25-2002 06:20 PM).] |

It's not hard to love someone who is perfect. The test comes when we still love despite the imperfections. Lovely poem, Larry! |
