He stood his ground tall in stature So full of life was he that he shined within So much that others were drawn to his sincerity In warmth he captured the bigots of time Never a word of superiority left his lips Just a truthful blessing to carry you on In an understanding of listening to you grow The hostility of some got tempered with smiles So as they talked of their hate, he conquers them in peace In a gift from God his words hypnotized you in his understanding So much that his color faded from his face In a friendship he shook your hand In the faith that really lies deep in all of us For you know if harm should ever threaten you The color of his shadow would come to fight beside you This man is so special that when he looked at his reflection Rainbows caressed his skin in that faith that made him pure Like another one that does not see color to enter his gates So if you see your own reflection in only one color Then the bruises of reality has shaded your eyes shut Some may ask well what color was he Does it really matter, for it did not matter to him Some will say he is black, does he have to be Others will put on him some other tint of history But his world lives right now in the ones he touches Some will say they are not prejudiced But he would exclaim we are born to battle it In the names of races, creeds, religions, origins And a million other criteria’s of humanity Even with the constitution of one country as diverse as ours It will never be legislated out of existence The only power you have is to let differences fade away From the faith within to learn to respect others For the bum you curse at today may be the gatekeeper To that final resting point The only place truly free from hate Note: The “Women Of Color” are a force to be reckoned with, in any nation, for they start the beginnings of change. They even have the cosmetics to camouflage their work.
