Never A Poet A poet will I ever be, just look at me. I read the works of others and feel so beneath, Their writings so unique and all so full of life. And as I read, their words just seem to breathe. Oh no, a poet I will never be, I'm not set free. My thinking is tied up in knots and gnarls of rope. And sometimes when I really try to think it out. What happens to me, well I feel just like a dope. If not a poet then what will become of me? My mind it needs to keep completely occupied. I cannot just sit by and idly watch TV. For many times when words won't come I've tried. But I am not enamored of that box that speaks. Commercials always running rampant here and there. And cartoon characters won't do the trick for me. I have no interest in those silly things I swear. My muse, I now rely on you and you alone. To pick my brain and pull out all the stops. Just help me write and I will always love you so. Until the quill from my hand finally drops. Floria |

a poet you are... funny how when the words don't come, there is a panic in ways that they might never return...the fire, the passions, the views might be lost from your grasp..and the fear life itself would be so much less if the words failed to return... |

HAHAH thanks cpat, this is coming from the fact that you guys on here are such tremendous writers, When I read your poems, I sit here in awe and I think. Oh my, what am I doing here. I’m not a writer, I have little skill and even less ability, but I do get to read the best poets there are here. And you are among them darling girl. I can relate to the disinterest in that crazy noise box myself...and can barely sit still long enough to even absorb a commercial. *S* But as for not being a poet? I agree, Floria. Though there are a few tv shows I like. I would much rather read and write. I just got my 1 millionth rejection from a magazine, it is so discouraging. But I will call myself a poet anyway!! Sandra |

too cool, just love this, I post on another board where a really good poet refuses to call himself a poet because in his eyes he has not arrived at that status yet, and yet I have seen writers throw together a few words and call it poetry. It is all in the mind, if you write a poem you are a poet, it might be good or bad, depending on the viewpoint of the poet or the reader, but you are still a poet........or this is how I see it...a poet is just a name as a painter, what you do with it after that is up to you, you can craft the finest art you can or you can paint walls with a roller lolol This is art, this is poetry, and very nicely done lady and yep don't we all know that feeling when the words won't come....this year has been a strange one for me, my poems either won't come or they come out different than ever before ... |

I agree with Newell, no one can compare to another as all have their own wonderful styles of writing and all come from different backgrounds and experiences..but we as poets are all sensitive to life andall can relate to feelings..and you write wonderfully... hugss M and TV,I use to put me to sleep each night *s |

floria...your poetry is good because it;s YOURS. You thought it up and wrote it. If you hadn't, it would never have been written. That alone makes it special. Anyone who sits with a blank sheet of paper in front of them and fills it with their own words and thoughts has the right to be called a poet or writer.... |
