Upon the edge of a ripple that shortly will become calm, or the strain of an outstretched hand soon to accept its empty palm, is the approach of thoughtless sleep that the aging mind comes to yearn For only within youthful eyes should this unbridled passion burn For life cannot forever chase the sun that shines in the sky Soon the horizon must give in and to the day, say goodbye And just on the face of the moon will be the image of the light that once lit up youthful days, but now haunts in the dark of night © David 2002 [This message has been edited by GenXer (03-12-2002 10:03 PM).] |

Perhaps the best one to end my evening with, Sir...thank you for this...I'm going to take my klutzy body and put it down and out for the night...and on this, the softest poem of the evening... |

Thanks all for reading this. Diamond - I hope my mind stays youthful. It just seems as you get older, that certain dreams are impossible to attain due to responsibilities that you have, or fear of taking a chance because of those responsibilities, and so the dream must be put to rest. Anyway, I think I'll Rumba now.lol Marsha - My door is always open. Actually, my house doesn't even have a door.lol Dave |

It's true that our dreams change as we grow older, maybe it's the weight of practicality taking its toll. I miss the dreams of youth. Nan |

Dave, How I missed reading your poetry. This one is very lovely with just a hint of melancholy. I enjoyed every line so I won't try and pick out a favorite. Cheryl |

Wonderfully penned. Thanks for sharing. "What makes letting go hard isn't losing what you had, but losing the dream of what could have been." |

How sadly sweet and beautiful! Oh sure we are older and wiser, but there is nothing that can replace the stary eyed wonder of our youth. I enjoyed this so much as I do all of your poems. [This message has been edited by BluesSerenade (03-15-2002 12:29 AM).] |
