Life is but different colored words
and a poet but a gluer-cutting and
pasting one word to another,
making opposites attract,
sticking together oddness and sense,
finding new phrases to glue
with each waking moment.

Life is a kaleidoscope of words and
poets are given the gift of vision-
hurt and pain readily bleed red ones;
anger and hate are always injected black.
Grey is the color of both
cynicism and mistrust.
Freedom I believe is clear
cause you really can't see it.
...and love, love is a wonderful word
in it you can be pink, or blue
or it can bring any shade of sunshine,
its really up to you.
Youth can be every color
as long as it is freshly sharpened
and brand new.
Age is the color of youth but with
more depth, and perception.
I have been told that envy
and jealousy are both green and hope
is the color of the sky.

I came upon some glue one day-
and fancied myself a poet.
I thought to write a poem,
as new poets often do,
the color of my soul.
I was dismayed to find the words
were coming out speckled with black,
stored up hatred and anger
I hadn't even noticed.
Trying to clean off a piece
of anger only brought up more
from underneath, and once I
defined the hatred, I couldn't seem to stop
it from spreading.

If I was to have a poem
with the truest of color, this blackness
must surely go, so I started shearing.
With random abandon
and no apparent plan, I went to clipping.
Bit by bit I removed every dark word I
encountered and anchored each piece
to paper. Once I started, I couldn't stop,
I had this need. I called it poetry.

I broke into a rhythm, feeding my need
daily. A poem or two or three,
rather haphazardly I slapped on the glue
and onto the paper it was pasted.
For the longest time
I had lost track of the reason why,
until yesterday that is, when I felt
myself lift,
a sort of a skip,
but longer...you could have almost
called it a float, and so today I hurry
back to my scissors
and paste-I believe that if
I continue the removal at present speed,
I will soon be light enough
to fly.

I can't even send you a well-deserved stern look for sneaking this one past me... for I'm too in awe of the poem... that's cheating! LOL I love this, lady... awesome beginning, awesome lines... terrific poem.

Freedom I believe is clear
cause you really can't see it.

This deserves its very own WOW! *S*

I had lost track of the reason why,

I can tell you this... your poetry soars. *S* Excellent work!

(smiles) Awwwwwwwww, this is outstanding, I LOVE IT!!! (big hugggssssss) I too believe life is a kaleidoscope of emotions and colors, and if we can all treat it like a coloring book yet color by our own hearts and hopes, we are bound to find the wings to fly and the voice to sing of true joy forever! (sigh) This is magnificent, sweet friend, we all love you so much, I LOVE IT!!! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Jellybeans, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
