To clear your throat with every other word, so nervously
You are there, the character and strength so rarely found
To know, within the restlessness and swallowed tears to drown

You are there, in some instinctive thread my hand goes out
To find the meaning of these thoughts and needs that fly about
You are there, in bluesy music of the cold past tension
Too numb to take the lash, deny the warm with apprehension

You are there, for some reason to appear within my midst
To claim a superficial thought of love a non-believing pessimist
You are there, to take my call, even though you option out
To spend this friendly conversation just with me, what's that about?

You are there, to honor only of a man's best friend
To indicate an empty heart, and yet a gentle note to send
You are there, so safely kept away from any touch that could renew
To know instinctively about a gem that shines this way for you?
