Shared Heart

.......my half of your heart   my half of heart.......

by larry chadwick   by doreen peri

the unconditional and cans                    the whethers and nots are
are tepid sometimes, the future not          hot and cold, the heather of spring
so easy to tell, as this giddy young boy   coming one day, i'm told, as this silly girl's
anticipates the possibilities of us and yet   mind remembers how the sun once shined
dreams the hopes that all lovers dream   the very moment your hand touched mine
poetry a longing, yet to be shared with   and still i sing on wings of Love, storms
a beauty of like mind, the echo of his   banished, poetry my gift, as the shifts
write, the other half of his embrace   of sands between the comes and goes
unaware of the challenges there   of reminisce echo, and now how still
oblivious to what he risks, not   my half of heart becomes, pulled
a doubt that somewhere out   out taut by tide and undertows,
there the other half of who   wrought with the trying to
he longs to be, yearning   define the boundaries of
for a fit that is the gift   a sea, seeing the mere
that will define all of   half of me so clear
the boundaries of   like morning has
his sea, and all   come in a blue
   possibilities of   mist kissed
what life’s ifs   so true
     probably   like ifs
     should   can
          be   be

dor,
Sorry I couldn't use your graphics design with it...the file is just to big to post. But I still love it. Thank you so much. This meant a lot to me and was such fun!

Everybody,
Wow...thank you so much for your kind words. Some how I am of the understanding that we owe Marge the credit for the format. But you could have guessed that! When I saw dor's poem I felt it required a response. I had no idea how much work it would be, nor how much fun. Thank you.

Hey! I just figured out this was free verse. How could that happen without knowing? Who do I see about this?

What an awesome write! I would hope that the two of you would collaborate some more, and surely, surely! Get this one published! I loved reading both separately, then together, and what an echo! Ah, Bravo! Brava!

Larry and doreen,
you write like a person divided .  I loved the format and the echoing response. Way cool.
