Can allusion cause confusion? Alliterative verse Allegory tells a story All we do is make it worse Broadside ballad, I’m baroque I can’t sell this here blank rhyme The Bard and Browning. Bronte too They brought it forth and anytime Cinquain from a mere haiku Classicism- yesterday Does cacophony, here, like you Carpe Diem “seize the day” Do we dare do daring ditty Dadaism deigns doggerel Do you think you’re diction’s witty In the dissonance, who can tell Epic poems are ever long Emphasis on a eulogy In empathy, eyes grow ever strong An ellipses means there’s more to see Fables are so fabulous Fixed forms, they aren’t for me Free verse is the fear of us An unfettered place to be Gleemen are for going home Our genres to the grave Grateful for a loving gnome Who gave its girth to ever save A hymn and heroic quatrain Have a savior at their heart Hyperbole may hurt my brain But homonyms tear it apart Oh, iambic pentameter Idealistically, I write some plays I could never be called a quitter I will write them “in medias res” Juggle a jingle on their tongue Jostle a jig or maybe two Throw a dime into their jug And that’s what a jongleur will do Somehow we make the kenning King’s English is outspoken Kill the accent from beginning A handkerchief my knows is broken Who lampoons the limerick Nay the lyricist says no doubt Light verse may not lay so thick But for laughter not do without Meter just may mark my measure Might I mean my metaphor Minstrel’s music finds me pleasure The poet’s muse will marvel more Sonnets are not novelty Make the numbers add to ten If we need complexity I’d say nonsense to nearing end Ode to an oxymoron And “Oh the onomatopeia” Use them both and this I’ve swore on On some other day, I will see yuh Palindrome’s are purely pleasing “Stop on no pots” makes good sense To say that I am only sneezing Is a pun in present tense? Quickly quoting poets quips Quintets in a quivering form Quills take ink in queried sips And quietly quell the storm Romance lost, once been revealed Without rhyme there is no reason Real poets write with sword they wield Words are ripe and in their season Satire is always within scope Site for me a senryu Sonnet writing? Lost… no hope? Simile for me and then be you I tried to be a troubadour Trounced and trodden, tragically I said hey tanka I’ll take no more Then transformed to poet magically Understatement under said Undertake an ugly bliss Understand what’s in my head The upset heart utters this Voice the verse without a vowel Versify the visual vow Vie for victor in vain for towel Has vaulted in the ring somehow Wordsmith wields a hefty weight And whimsy works where it will We all want what we cannot sate The words to make hearts go still Expect to exceed all exemptions Extract from heart extra strong Poets excel from this redemption Extreme reward from there song Can you feel a heart that’s yearning You see your words and how they’re sung Some be yielding some be learning You have your heart forever young We all have our poetic zone Zeroed in on what to do A zenith to each who have their own We all belong in “Poet Zoo” [This message has been edited by wayoutwalt (02-28-2002 10:20 PM).] |

Your Poet Zoo is toooooo poetic... I went to see it the other day, but I got there at dinner time and all the poets were dining on hyperbole... Does that make sense?? |
