Would You Walk with Me |

Would You Walk With Me Would you walk with me a mile, perhaps two? Would you hold my hand and laugh out loud? Could we walk and share the memories, Of other walks and late night talks? Remembering days from long ago When youth was at a prime-- Those carefree days of yesterday Now only fleeting scenes sublime? Would you tread the path so well worn? Remembering every branch and turn? Life's too hard to walk alone, without another's hand. Together we have worn a rut so tried and true, That now we walk this path by rote, knowing it so well. Is the silence now we share, our thoughts remain our own. Memories shared along the way, now quietly speak No need to acknowledge the ground beneath our feet. Would you now walk with me, if you had not known? Would the path wind and turn, or carry straight on? It is hard to remember our journeys start, Having traveled on so far, You not only walked a mile or two, but year upon year. Those carefree days we thought would last forever Have become more meaningful now, As memories return one by one, enlivening our souls. Will you walk with me into that far off sun? Until it sets beneath the crest, until our journeys done? (C)10-30-99 |

Dulcinea - by the wonder of this poem, you will never, ever be walking alone. Chris Life is not measured by breaths you take, but by moments that take your breath away. |
