What would you really do if you won the lottery?

I would buy a tropical island, run around nude all the time, listening to music.
I would own AOL.

What would you do?

I'd set up a big non profit organization that would give out food, shelter, scholarships.

hi Sweets, Lizzy, Kris, Ina, Erin, Erica, Minna, Kit, Kamie, Javi, Jenn, Sharon, Nan, Cawlee, Cherish, Ashley, Sara, Justine, Leah, Jess, Kimmie, Mare

Pay off bills and debts, clearing up my credit. Then I'd set aside monies in interest bearing accounts for select friends of mine, as well as buying a house for one in particular. Then, well, I'd buy me a pickup (pre-85) with a camper shell in back, and would drive around the country, with my bed and kitchen behind my seat.

Heh...I'd be so rich, I could afford to be poor. LOL

I would buy enough houses or land for my children/me to have as investments when they were older.

I'd send my mother and on a world trip and send her especially to Ireland so she can go 'home' then dad to England for the same thing.

I'd pay off all the bills of everyone in my family and send each of my brothers where ever they wanted to go.

Then if there was enough money left, I'd buy myself a Lotus 'Elise' in that fast red ( ) or a XK 180 Jaguar or an XKR WITH the discount from Dad's friends.

I'd give it to my best friend for her to buy back her life with, and if there was any left, I'd either save it for University, or spend it on gifts for my mates, parents and myself.. depending on how much was left. Oh well, pity I never buy lotto tickets, eh? *sigh*

I'd save 3/4th's of it.

put 50% of it saved in a bank account.
put 25% of it in bonds.
put 25% of it in IRA's.

Then I'd spend the 1/4 on a nice house and a great jeep cherokee.

That island sounds better everyday. I seem to crave solitude, and a little sunshine.

So far most replies are WAY too practical. Good, but practical.
How about some imagination here?
btw~ Dopey, your intentions are good.

HEy haha!! .....*checks to see how he added wrong*.......hmmmm......I meant 50%, 25%, and 25% of the 3/4's taking out to save....

the left portion, being 1/4 which in itself is another 100% will be spent.

I added right....I think

haha I never claimed to be good in math. I flunked Senior year math, I only passed cuz I convinced the teacher I'd be a brat in summer school and she might as well just let me go to college. haha

Oh ok......and you want imagination Blooming? Well my answer above would be my REAL doing with the money, but lemme see with my imagination:

-I'd buy a bunch of monkeys and buys a giant building. I'd put a sign out that says "Bank"....I'd let the monkeys be the bank tellers and let them run the bank. Id name it "What bankers REALLY do"

- I'd buy the really obese people, the kind that can't get up and i'd sell them to the hungry people. That should give them innitiative to eat all the food I buy them.

- I'd buy all the best guitar amps, tuners, strings, pics, cords, effects, pedals, and stuff and play in a rock band.

- With my money i'd get power in the music industry.....I'd form my own record label. Sign a few people and have my own recording studio, but it'd be runned by Wallabee's.

- I'd set up a "Save the Sloth" Foundation for those slow, cute things.

- I'd parade around the world with a camera and make people do stupid, rediculous things for a few bucks.

That's it for now.

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.

Yeah, Dopey.. she means imaginative, as in that I would buy the Eiffel Tower and parachutte off the top, showering fake money to people below and watching them scrabble for it on the ground, just for the heck of it.

Actually, I wouldn't do that.. BUT hey..

You made a good choice in location for what you want, but you may want to narrow it a bit further,, for instance using Seattle for a base ref: Annual rainfall total is about 37 inches ( far less than many might imagine) with a daily chance of rain being 42%.

In the northern coastal town of Quillayute the annual rainfall total is almost 104" with the chance of rain on any given day being 58%  ( sunshine % btw is only 32)

farther south in Hoquium the total annual rainfall is 70".

Here where I live we get a large amount of rain but fewer actual days of getting it.
Did I mention it is still raining?...lol

I would start a publishing company for new and emerging poets. . .

Start scholarships at my high schools (yes, schools) for artists and writers. . .

Work on making poetry a more accepted art form. . . workshops, readings, poet tours. . .

Build the house of my dreams on Grand Traverse Bay in Traverse City, Michigan. . .

Do stuff for my family. . .

and way more stuff that I can't even begin to list here. . .

I would buy a town and it would become the poetic capital of the universe. I'd sell 'Voices on the Web' and all the books we write. I'd have free workshop camps for kids who want to write and since the town will be out in the boonies, a lot of inner city kids would come there....I'd have one building with nothing but computers in it so everyone could be online or learn to use a computer....I'd have a parade every Saturday..a dance every Saturday night..and a huge town picnic every Sunday....

So what's my forcast? Ha!
Dangerous question.   Be nice.

Sven~ Good ideas you have there!

I'd buy out Versace. Lovely clothing in there.

I'd buy a house for the specific intention of beating to death when I was angry/upset/whatever with a baseball bat. It'd be filled with really expensive items and they would be smashed to hell.

A jet would be bought and I'd go and see everyone in this place that I talk to and some that I even don't to say, "yes, I met you!"

I'd co own Sven's publishing company and write a biography on Javie, called THE DOPEY LIFE. (the true story of a monkey butt)

I'd publish all of my good poems.

I'd make a book about each and every one of you, with your poems in it, and give you all the money made when they sold millions of copies.

Then I'd buy a house, and a bunch of mood rings.

Then I'd put myself through law school.

if i had won the lottery id spoil my loved ones silly-till theyre screaming for me to stop buying them stuff.
then id jet set around the world and spend time absolutely EVERYWHERE for at least two weeks then id come back home and buy an estate in rural Melbourne, Victoria and write about my travels. then id fly my cat in from Sydney and live with him till i die. the estate would be turned into an orphanage and run on the money i had left.

Rural? No deary, you need to come and live in the city with me where we can stay up all night drinking and going generally nuts! lol

I thought of some more stuff. That real estate thing got me thinking. I'd buy places in Italy, Ireland, Sydney (of course) and England. I'd probably move to Italy eventually.

I say lets buy thousands of hot air balloons, each one with a poem posted on it, and chase each other around the world!

Darn I nearly made it for there is a lottery overhere going by postalstreetcodes and last week the big heap fell in a street in a nearby village. And there I saw on tv about 5 people I know by sight getting from 350.000 up till 2.000.000 Dutch guilders each ($100 is about Fl. 250) Sooooooo?
Well I missed it, don't live in that village

Titia,
Sometimes I am amazed at how our lives are so different when we are scattered in various parts of the world.
You the Netherlands, me in Florida U.S.A.
One thing we do have in common is the love of fishing!
Do you have gators there? (Probably a dumb question.)

I like your goals should you win some money.
