What is the weirdest name for food that you've ever heard?

Like: Shoo-fly Pie (there is such a thing!)

or

Pigs-in-a-blanket

"Angels on horseback" not sure exactly what it is.. something with eggs, I think..

"frogs in a hole"?
No, no.. my dad makes "Dinguses" no idea how to spell it, but that's kinda how it sounds.. hehe, it's just potato fritters, really, but when we were little, dad didn't know what to call it when we asked what it was.. so he says "they are dinguses". ^_^

Does it count if I made it up myself?
I learned to cook by taking care of my niece and nephews, and I learned then how persnickety kids could be...chicken and dumplings? They simply would not eat--until...I renamed it---walla! "Snot Stew." And I even got them to eat liver by calling it "Fried autopsy". They giggled alot but ate every bit and asked for more!

Dunno, but I'm still trying to figure out what kind of creature lays an eggplant.

(serenity, I cringe to think what you might have called meatball soup...)

Ok I can explain frogs in a hole... It's actually Toad in a hole... and it is sausages surrounded by Yorkshire pudding mix (batter) and baked... basically I think... Ok so the English don't eat very delicate food... We prefer rugged food... like Toad in a hole... I'm gonna shut up now...

"Ants on a Log" ...

The name was no more appetizing that the snack - peanut butter smooshed into a stick of celery topped with raisons

Not so much an actually odd name, for it is what it is...panfried brains which when prepared right, and if one did not know, they would think they were eating very moist scrambled eggs...

what's funny...I could ONLY fix it when I was pregnant...when "normal"...no way could I fix, OR eat....

and I'm not about to get pregnant again for a third helping....

My first set of in-laws tried to trick me into eating fried calf's brain, Karilea. I must have been about 18 and they knew I was pretty fussy (that was before the Marines, where I learned to eat anything if it can be doused in catsup). So, they told me it was some kind of fried plant, can't remember exactly which kind.

Didn't work. I don't recall the taste, but I will NEVER forget that texture…

In my family, we make a salad we call Green Death. Sort of an inside joke, that wasn't the name it came with! (It's cottage cheese, Cool Whip, crushed pineapple, and walnuts mixed with lime Jell-o mix.)

angels on horseback is the same style but using oysters or mussells instead of prunes
my weirdest so far is love apple pie which sounds fine, pastry base apples sugar cinnamon etc untill you have to add 7 dessert spoons of tomato kechup! i havent been brave enough to try it yet!!!!
