Generations Her flashing eyes pierce me see into my hidden center as all my faces drop away. Her questions provoke mine babbling history for hours shields down, telling, sharing. Quiet voices in wee hours discussing and discovering she tells me about her church. Both fresh from bad relationships our past seems almost entwined crying shared tears, once again. She smiles a quiet smile as we talk in the darkened we hug and go our separate ways. She laughs, thanks tenderly as I loan my old teddy bear she won't sleep alone tonight. Her flashing eyes pierce me meeting after years of knowing her smile restores and reminds. Grandmother, mother and daughter all teach, reach, touch my soul thankful...I lay me down to sleep. ~~~~~~ |
