This is a sort of people about meditation and the creative process. I used to lie on my bed and stare up at the sort of bumpy ceiling for hours, especially when the light was on. I would see all sorts of cool things in it, as my mind tried to make sense out of the chaotic bumpbs here and there, hence the references to the ceiling in this poem. Anyhow, enjoy: This is my fantasy It starts in a real room devoid of real people The walls are dead, the paint is chipped, and I am lying in bed, staring up into the endless light, letting thoughts depart into the night that I may now receive forgotten sight. This is my fantasy beginning in a real room free of social obligation the ceiling leads, the mind is still, as I fulfill my needs, gaining greater creative will and power, letting my angst depart this very hour, and I am cleaned by the eternal thundershower. This is the fantasy that begins in a real room devoid of real people. 2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2 --Smit My Creations [This message has been edited by fractal007 (03-23-2003 04:08 AM).] |

Interesting! Do you start your fantasy with your eyes open? I would think that we should start with our eyes closed - to see into our minds. Hmmm..I'm going to try your method. |

Meditation is a wonderful way to write poetry. It's one of the two extremes that I find most useful and most vital to writing decent poetry. It all starts in a room with no real people, where nothing is real but the imagination... I write, therefore I am. Right? Parasite |

LP: Thanks for the reply. I like your interpretation. PDV: Well, to tell the truth, this isn't something that I always engage in. This poem's more about my preferring imagination and solitude to the company of other, real people. Thanks for the reply. 2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2 |
