Cover-up Happy, bright blue paint peels in cancerous patches exposing solid steel beneath. Dry rotting of ex-veneer quietly, slowly defeated by created beauty within. Oh, who would appreciate nakedness of bare metal as pleasant, even lovely? Quickly they come marching covering with deception layers mindlessly applied. Incognito by cruel brush peek-a-boo patient, nay victim dreams of sand-blasting savior. Happy blue paint and bare metal defeated by time, both by rust a master or martyr cover-up? ~~~~~~~~ |

Hmm. Have you ever read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance? I am right now and it sorta reminded me of it...that is, if a motorcycle's actually what you're alluding to...erm. This was veery interesting and I'm sure I'll have to go back and read it more than 3 times to actually grasp all of it, but for now I know I do appreciate the great control of the language you've used...This is subtle, but I think I'm starting to get the whole deal of it. And it's sad. *sigh* Anyway, keep writing, I'll be sure to keep looking. ~Carly A ruddy drop of manly blood |

Carly, seems this piece has spoken to you on a few levels, thank you. i guess the "bare" root would be metal vrs paint and in the end, time will get both. the question that remains is, as always, of point of view. Lol in my own opinion... |

Or..this could be a metaphor for a woman who uses a lot of makeup? LOL In it's 'basic' meaning, I see that we are looking at the beauty of the natural state versus the 'painted' beauty which over time peals away to revel the 'real' underneath. (Was that right too?) |

hey Sharon, yeppers could be metaphorically anything or anyone, lol, that has layers of stuff that is designed to enhance or hide the trueness underneath. And the fate that awaits both in the end. And of course the utimate question of which is/was which. The point of view question would the basic view one would carry in day to day existence, i suppose...glass half full kinda stuff? |

Interesting poem on car repair and maintenance. Seems to be a new way of looking at the phrase "don't judge a book by it's cover." You do a good job discussing the idea of the car being rusted as being possibly "better" than one might think. |

Actually, I find much beautfy in rust, and also think tarnished silver preferable to shine..it IS all in the way you look at it. Enjoyed reading this! |

I love the subject matter you bring up here... "cover-up" of what we see undesirable. The true form of steel is masked by the untrue form of paint, which is what is celebrated... and not the steel... I hate being painted... |
