There was a little boy who was spoiled to the core
Screaming every night and day that 'lesser' things be more
His parents indulged his every wish in boxes gaily wrapped
For every morsel he would eat or when he'd take a nap

He slowly grew in stature though he stayed that little boy
Always wanting yesterday the sleekest, newest toy
He never cared for 'lesser' things, those of abstract thought
But only for those shiny things which could in shops be bought

In the winter of his life, he found a hole devoid of joy
That he always sought to fill with the sleekest, newest toy
He found lacking a tiny thing, though too large to hold in glove
The greatest of the abstract thoughts, that 'lesser' thing called love

Love, a lesser thing? I like that... saying it's a lesser thing, implies that some of us take it for granted - so much so that some of us even neglect its presence in our life.

I've never quite seen it that way. Thanks for the glimpse.
