Hiding behind my wifely façade
I'm walking through your shade
Living this life as your extension
Living a life that you alone made

I forget who I used to be
Before you took control
And now you keep track of me
Closer than any patrol

I wince as I take my chair
The bruise that never shows
The lesson learned from your fist
I hope that no one knows

The darkness of your shade
Envelops this tender soul of mine
And though I smile at your friends
I’m not allowed to shine
