The ragdoll layed with the other on the bed
The little girl chose the other instead
The ragdoll looked at itself and knew why
It's body was dirty, it was missing an eye

The new doll could wet, it even could talk
If it felt so, it could get up and walk
Or the doll could sit there just being cute
Much more than the ragdoll seemed as a mute

But then new dolls will break on their first day
The ragdoll with nothing simple to say
To ease the frown on the little girl's face
It knew she needed something to embrace

Take me! Oh, Take me! I'm right over here
Down the girl's cheek ran a shimmering tear
The little girl hugged the ragdoll for awhile
Both spirits were lifted on both faces a smile.

They're still telling it!

Oh, I like this. It reminded me of a story I read of a little girl and her favorite stuffed rabbit. She had a birthday and got new toys and forgot about him. Then of course there was a happy ending when she found him under the bed and sewed up his fading smile and had a tea party with the rest of her dolls and stuffed animals.
Too much? :}

Oh, this touched me, I loved it, I have ragdolls...but these two lines----I know how this doll feels:

"Take me! Oh, Take me! I'm right over here
Down the girl's cheek ran a shimmering tear"

Liked it muchly Walt   It reminded me of my old cuddly toy... Peter Panda. I hugged him so much and dragged him around behind me wherever I went. His eyes fell off and were magically replaced with little soft yellow buttons and one night, he wasn't there any more. I was devastated, but then, next night, he was back again wearing a brand new set of pj's carefully sewn on to hold him together.

*phew* that just saved me loads of money on a psychiatrist... thanks man!

Nicely done here walt! Wow.....I loved this wonderful tale!
It's just too bad the little girl comes back to her "old love" when new ones break or aren't fit........too bad she just doesn't stick with her old one.
