Muskoka Mornings Silent walk into lavender dawn Where colour creeps Into frozen sky Poured into thawed crevices Grudgingly surrendered Crisp crack foot falls Ricochet among peeling birch Wrap around willow and ash Dropped short by oak and maple Intrusive tread defeated Delicious chill Bites playfully but firmly With promise of more to come Ears glower, cheeks radiate Fingers and toes declare their presence Fulsome moldering leaves Blended earthy tones Rotting peat Fungi advancing sporadically Nature’s grisly salad Silence broken Moose horn knocks on wood Porcupine clamber up beech Chipmunk gossip Distant loon lament Round the bend Home again Unable to shake the sense Of remaining a guest In my own home © 2000 Bart Breen never try to teach a pig to sing |

Into reading nature poems this morning, a guest on your own lawn, liked the decriptiveness here! Welcome to Passions. Write on. ![]() |

Bart--You take me into the place where you wander with your words, almost as if I was there. I am a lover of the beauty found there, and the words it inspires. |

Hi Canuck, I love your poem and happy to see you're a new member here also. I've always enjoyed your poems and look forward to reading more. Your imagery is great in this one. |

The imagery and emotion penned in this piece holds one captive of the scene. I know this area well and your poem captures it perfectly!!! Well done my friend!!! [This message has been edited by brianbeaudry (01-13-2002 10:48 AM).] |

You write of nature and your surroundings with ease (I can't master the art of writing that way!). The poem left me with a feeling of sadness that I can't explain. So it touched me and I thank you for that. ![]() |
