her eyes were cold
unfriendly
like vinyl seats
in a convertible
with the top down
in january
in montana

I asked if the chair
was taken
she just looked
at it
and then at me
as if selecting
her choice
of neighbors

she built a wall
with her back
smooth stucco tan
over witch brick
reinforced bitter
no windows or doors
or soft places
to rest the eyes
do not touch
fresh paint
and other signs

her cell phone had notches
like a hit man's gun
and pepper spray rockets
on a key chain
taebo nails
with cobra venom polish
perfume was lighter fluid
her voice was flint
striking steel

when she said
I should have called
she had been waiting
for half
an hour..

maybe it's a GOOD thing she's the one that got away, It's Certainly a GOOD thing the way you wrote down these words.
